Chief's Luau · Wet'n'Wild Hawaii, Kapolei
A luau in Kapolei hosted by Chief Sielu, a world fire-knife dance champion, with a Hawaiian buffet, a Polynesian show and a bus from Waikiki and back. Pick it if you want the feast and the fire without the boat.

Chief's Luau takes place in a private area inside Wet'n'Wild Hawaii, 400 Farrington Hwy, Kapolei, on the west side of Oahu, per the luau's location page. This listing includes the round trip from Waikiki: a green Roberts motor coach leaves from pickup points between 3:55 and 4:40 PM, and the luau ends at about 8:15 PM. Be at your stop 10 minutes early, because the buses don't wait.
You pick one of three packages. Aloha brings a shell lei, the all-you-can-eat feast and one drink; Paradise a kukui nut lei and two drinks; Royal a fresh flower lei, a Mai Tai greeting, three drinks and a gift. The menu lists kalua pork, tropical BBQ chicken, Asian style fish, lomi lomi salmon, poi, chow mein with char siu pork, purple Okinawan sweet potatoes, taro rolls and pineapple cake. The show is led by Chief Sielu, whom the luau's own site calls the original world champion fire-knife dancer, and guests single out the fire dancers and his humour.
It is not a beach luau: the setting is a water park, outdoors with no roof, and one guest found the walk to the food and the bar long. A few reviews call the buffet line slow or the food so-so. If the reason you came to Hawaii was an evening on the ocean, the Star of Honolulu buffet cruise has a Polynesian show too. Our dinner cruise vs luau guide weighs the two.
Your ticket gives the stop and time. Look for a green Roberts motor coach.
One guest says the host on the coach was fun and entertaining.
A shell, kukui nut or flower lei depending on your package, and your first drink.
All-you-can-eat buffet with kalua pork, BBQ chicken, fish and poi.
Chief Sielu hosts dances from across Polynesia and the fire-knife finale.
The buses return to the stops they left from.
★★★★★We had an incredible time at Chief's Luau! We were picked up in Waikiki and driven there. The host on the bus was fun and entertaining. The buffet had a nice variety of food and was really good. The highlight of the night was the show!
★★★★★Loved this show! The entertainment and food was wonderful. We had the transfers to and from our hotel and found our driver to be prompt and personable. I would recommend this activity for couples or for the whole family.
★★★★★Such a wonderful show! Humorous and informative! The fire dancers were phenomenal, I couldn’t take my eyes off the stage!
★★★★★Being able to book with transportation to the Luau was very helpful. Food and drinks were very good & plentiful. [...] Another huge plus was they didn't solicit for tips or reviews!!
